2015 SCU Homecoming Concludes


Southwestern Christian University concluded its 2015 Homecoming Weekend Saturday, Nov. 7. The event was highlighted by the Class of 1955 who celebrated their 50-year Class Reunion (pictured above). 

The festivities kicked off with the Fall Festival and Southwestern Showcase. The Fall Festival was a chance for alumni, faculty and staff with young children to attend and play games. 

175 alumni, friends and students attended the Southwestern Showcase and took some of the best the SCU Creative Arts Program has to offer.

Saturday began with the SCU Singing Reunion. 123 current SCU alumni and students filled Minchew Auditorium for the event. To view photos of the event. click here.

The SCU men's basketball team, under new head coach Dave Bliss, picked up a 92-66 win in their home opener against Barclay College. For more information on the game, click here.

During halftime of the basketball game, SCU crowned its Homecoming King and Queen. A.J. Leingang, a junior from Edmond, Okla., was named King. Emma Keyes, a senior from Dublin, Ireland, was selected as Queen.

SCU capped its Homecoming Weekend festivities with its annual Homecoming Banquet and Feast of Ingathering on Saturday, Nov. 7. With 174 in attendance, SCU presented alumnus John Leggett (’93) with the Spiritual Impact Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to former faculty member Lonnie Rex. Alumnus Dwight Burchett (’59, ’64) was the recipient of the Dan Beller Legacy Award. Pastor and former SCU administrator Jon Chasteen (01’) was honored as Alumnus of the Year.

SCU raised $50,000 dollars in donations and pledges during the Feast of Ingathering.
