Arthur to be Inducted Into SCU Athletics Hall of Fame
Southwestern Christian University is pleased to announce the induction of Athletic Director Mark Arthur into the Hall of Fame at the Feast of Ingathering on Saturday, November 10th at 7:30pm in the North Dorm Conference Center as part of the 2012 SCU Alumni and Friends Weekend.
Coach Mark Arthur played basketball for what was then known as Oklahoma City Southwestern College from 1978-80. After the program was shut down, Arthur returned to SCU in 1991 as Financial Aid Director, but found himself with the job of rebirthing the intercollegiate athletic program to help build school spirit and give the Eagles an edge in recruiting.
In the Fall of 1992, Arthur reinstated a men's basketball program and was named head coach. The intercollegiate athletic program. Two decades later, the SCU Department of Athletics has now grown to 16 sports that total over 250 student-athletes. The Eagles compete in both the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics as well as the National Christian College Athletic Association.
Last spring, Arthur stepped down from his duties as head coach of the men's basketball team, focusing his efforts now on his role as SCU Athletic Director.
