BETHANY – Southwestern Christian University is making preparations to welcome what is expected to be a record number of students for the start of fall semester classes Monday, Aug. 18.
Indicators are pointing to another all-time high in student enrollment with expectations to equal or exceed last year’s numbers. Enrollment will remain open until Friday, Aug. 22 and classes can be added until Friday, Aug. 29.
Most freshmen have already moved into their rooms on campus while upperclassmen will return throughout the weekend.
A weekend full of activities are planned to welcome students for the 2014-15 academic year, including a campus-wide cookout, an interactive paint-ball style game called Bongo Ball, a movie shown on a giant outdoor screen, and a number of other fun and engaging events to make students feel welcome.
New on campus this fall will be a renovated campus dining hall that Pioneer College Catering has spent more than $100,000 in food and facility upgrades. Full services will begin on Monday.
Also, the Bell Student Center which houses both Irvin and Light has been remodeled with new flooring and painting as well as new faculty offices and classroom spaces have been added throughout campus.
