Below is a list of scholarships offered at
Southwestern Christian University, along with a brief description and
application procedures. In order to be
considered, scholarship applications must be received by July 31 for the fall
semester and December 1 for the spring semester. A complete explanation of policies related to
institutional scholarships can be found in the
SCU Catalog .
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Academic scholarships are made possible in part by an
endowment established by Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Thompson, and are awarded to those
students exhibiting outstanding academic achievement.
Level I Honors:
$1,000 per academic year
Entering freshman student must have either completed
the ACT with a composite score between 24 and 26, or graduated in the top 5% of
his/her class. The student must maintain a 3.7 cumulative GPA to retain the
award.

Level II Honors:
$2,000 per academic year
Entering freshman student must have either completed
the ACT with a composite score between 27 and 30, or graduated first in his/her
class. The student must maintain a 3.7 cumulative GPA to retain the award.

Level III Honors:
Amount and guidelines to be determined by the
Academic Dean.
Application
President’s Honor Roll:
$300 per semester
Returning student who is not receiving an honor
scholarship must have completed the previous semester with a 4.0 semester GPA,
and a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Award will be automatically applied if all
requirements are met.
Dean’s Honor Roll:
$150 per semester
Returning student who is not receiving an honor
scholarship must have completed the previous semester with a 3.75 semester GPA,
and a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Award will be automatically applied if all
requirements are met.
R.O. CORVIN MINISTERIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
$500 per academic year
Dr. R.O. Corvin was the founder and first president
of Southwestern Christian University. Scholarships are awarded in honor of his
love for the church and SCU. Recipient must be a licensed or ordained minister,
or the spouse or child of a licensed or ordained minister. Verification of
ministerial status must be presented to the Financial Aid Office.
IPHC FINE ARTS/BIBLE QUIZ SCHOLARSHIPS
Southwestern Christian University honors the efforts
of the youth of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church who excel in the
National Fine Arts/Bible Quiz programs sponsored by the IPHC Church Education
Ministries. Scholarships are divided over eight semesters, and official
verification of the conference and/or national win must be presented.
Alpha Division Winners:
$150 (Conference) $400 (Nationals)
Omega Division Winners:
$300 (Conference) $800 (Nationals)
BELL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS
These scholarships are made possible in part by an
endowment established by Claude and Ollie Bell, longtime friends and supporters
of SCU.
Music Department Scholarships:
Amount determined by SCU Music Department
Each year the SCU Music Department awards a limited
number of scholarships to those students pursuing a music major who display
excellence in their field of study.
Application
Music Ensemble Scholarship: $1,100 per academic year
Students must apply, audition, and be selected for Music Ensemble in order to
receive this award.

PATRICK ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS: $400-$600 per academic year
These scholarships are made possible in part by an endowment established by Mr.
and Mrs. L.D. Patrick, valuable friends and supporters of SCU. Awards are
available to any student whose parent(s) previously attended Southwestern
Christian University.
Application
ALVA & OLAH HAMILTON SCHOLARSHIP: $500-$1,000 per academic year
This scholarship fund was established by Wallace Hamilton in honor of his
parents, who were long time friends of the International Pentecostal Holiness
Church and Southwestern Christian University. Special consideration is given to
students from River of Life Church.

C.H. SPRINGER INCENTIVE SCHOLARSHIPS: $500-$2,000 per academic year
C.H. Springer was a longtime friend, trustee, and supporter of Southwestern
Christian University, and established an endowment scholarship fund for
deserving students. These scholarships are awarded by the Admissions Office, in
conjunction with the Financial Aid Office, to students that demonstrate academic
excellence and strong leadership characteristics, as well as financial need.
S. JENELL CROSS “LOAVES & FISHES” SCHOLARSHIP: $500 per academic year
This scholarship fund was established in honor of S. Jenell Cross by her family.
The scholarship is awarded to one deserving female student each year.

ROBIN HOUGH WHITE ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $500-$2,000 per academic year
This scholarship, established by the family of Robin Hough White in her honor,
is available to Juniors and Seniors pursuing a degree in Missions.

CARMEN ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $500 per academic year
In memory of the IPHC Carmen Home, this scholarship is available to Junior and
Senior ministry students who are members of the IPHC.
