A letter grade is used in evaluating the work of a course. The evaluation should not be based on test average alone, but upon the general attitude of the student, daily assignments, general comprehension of the subject, and thoroughness and promptness in completion of assignments.
Instructors are expected to require their students to use the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, by Joseph Gibaldi and Walter S. Achert. Instructors must be familiar with the guide and should consider its principles in the grading of papers. Faculty members are encouraged to use the standard SCU writing rubric when grading student research papers.
