Southwestern Christian University Education Department Chair, Dr. Tim Campbell, passed away Monday, March 19th, from complications of Sarcoidosis. Memorial services for Dr. Campbell will be held on Monday, March 26th at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.
All 10:50 a.m. classes scheduled for Monday, March 26th will be cancelled and SCU offices closed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to allow students, faculty, and staff to attend Dr. Campbell’s memorial service.
Dr. Campbell joined the SCU family in the Fall of 2011, serving as Chair of the newly established Education Department. Prior to his employment at SCU, he served as Professor of Elementary Education at the University of Central Oklahoma for 18 years and taught for three years at Southern Nazarene University. He also taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in the Putnam City School District.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern Nazarene University, and his Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Oklahoma State University.
“The SCU community is shocked and saddened by the loss of Dr. Campbell. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends here at Southwestern,” commented Dr. Ed Huckeby, SCU President.
Visitation at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home will be Saturday evening, March 24th, and Sunday, March 25th, from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The family will be present on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Campbell is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Madelyn, and his three children Aaron, Stuart, and Sara.
