One creative person will have an opportunity to leave their own distinct mark on Southwestern Christian University’s upcoming 5K race by providing the event with its own distinctive and original name.
The 5K race, sponsored by the SCU Kinesiology, Exercise and Physical Education (KEPE) Club, will be March 28, 2015 on and around the school’s Bethany campus. Persons are encouraged to submit their own name ideas through the following link Name the Race Contest by Dec. 31, 2014.
The race will be USA Track and Field certified so that distance is accurately measured. In addition each runner will wear a small, lightweight chip that uniquely identifies them as they cross strategically the finish line. The chip will handle the task of collecting and processing results at the end of the race.
The winner will receive a special SCU Gift Certificate and Goodie Bag, according to KEPE Faculty Advisor Kristen Gregory.
“We have had several ideas to start out with that we just felt like opening it up to the public was the right thing to do,” she said. “We love the ideas that relate to Eagles, Route 66, Hope and SCU so feel free to include those words in the name.“
More details regarding the race and how to enter will be announced in the next few weeks.
