University President

Dr. Wenyika began his career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Zimbabwe, working for the Public Health Laboratories at Parirenyatwa, Harare, and Marondera Hospitals. He worked for the University of Zimbabwe’s Clinical Veterinary Sciences Department where his primary interests were Hematology and Immunology as well as demonstrating laboratory techniques to students. Wenyika was received into membership by the Institute of Medical Laboratory Scientists, the Immunology Society, and the Zimbabwe Health and Allied Professions Council.

He also worked as a Sales Executive for the medical supplies company, National Diagnostics before joining the pastoral staff of Celebration Church, formerly Hear the Word Church Zimbabwe. In 2000, he moved to the USA with his family and has since worked for Oral Roberts University, Union Public Schools, the City of Tulsa, Faith Community Churches International, and the Veritas Worldview Institute at Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

 

Dr. Wenyika currently serves on a number of non-profit boards. Additionally, he is Vice-President for Faith Community Churches International, a fellowship of Pentecostal churches in over 47 countries. He also served as a Commissioner for the Chief Academic Officers of the Coalition of Christian Colleges and Universities.
He was a charter member to the American Council on Education’s Association of Chief Academic Officers and also currently is the Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Advisers of the African Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Technology, and also the non-profit Education, Health and Life International.

He has presented and published texts on various subjects and disciplines that include, higher education, the Bible translation and linguistics, history and philosophy, and health and medical studies.  He has addressed conferences, churches in various countries; and organizations such as the Salvation Army, Rotary, Daughters of the American Revolution,  academic forums, college events and scholarly organizations such as Kappa Delta Pi. He has been the recipient of awards such as the Distinguished Services Award (St. Ignatius College), Most Outstanding Achievement by a Doctoral Recipient (Oral Roberts University), Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and Outstanding Service and Contribution (Alpha Beta Lambda – Kappa Delta Pi).

His hobbies include road bike riding, karate, and walking.

Education

Dr. Reggies Wenyika attended St. Ignatius College in Zimbabwe where he attained his Ordinary Level General Certificate of Education and Advanced Level Certificate of Education through the University of Cambridge. He received a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from the College of Health and Sciences at the University of Zimbabwe. He also received a Diploma in Ministerial Studies, and a Bachelor of Religious Arts in Biblical Studies. Dr. Wenyika holds a Master of Ministry (Leadership) from Southwestern Christian University, and a Master of Arts (Education Administration – Higher Education) and a Doctor of Education (Educational Leadership – Higher Education) from Oral Roberts University. He graduated with the University of Central Oklahoma’s Educators Leadership Academy, (Educational Administrators) Class of 2014.

Family

His wife, Bongi (Sibonginkosi) graduated from the Harare Polytechnic College in Zimbabwe (Mass Communication - Print Journalism). She also received a Bachelor of Science in Management (Human Resources) from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and a Master of Human Relations and PhD from the University of Oklahoma, where she also received the Charles Schustermann Award for Excellence presented by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (2008).

Dr. S. Wenyika has worked as a journalist for Reuters News Agency, a staff writer for a magazine, a Public Relations Manager, a Media Development Writer, and currently a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the Oklahoma County Juvenile Court System and an adjunct faculty member at SCU. Married for over 17 years, Dr. Reggies Wenyika and his wife, have two children, Thembi and Kudzai.
