All of the hard work and planning by the Southwestern Christian University Admissions team led by director Joe Blackwell and his staff paid off in a big way, as more than 75 prospective students gathered to learn more about the school through a series of instructions and events designed for entertainment and fun.
“We are really pleased with the outcome,” Blackwell said. “We had a record number of potential students on campus and we showed them what SCU has to offer them for their educational experience.”
Registration began in Conference Center where students began their day exploring information about the library, intramurals, dormitories, financial aid, and visiting with representatives from all of the different degree programs offered at the college.
Students along with their parents were able to meet and talk with current students and professors and receive answers to any questions they had on degree requirements and campus activities.
After visiting the registration area, they attended a class of their choice in either Missions/Evangelism/Theology, an Education, Music or Business.
Following the classroom visits, students were directed to the Minchew Chapel where they were warmly welcomed by SCU President Dr. Reggies Wenyika and Brad Davis, vice-president of student affairs. Guests were also able to enjoy a time of praise and worship with several of the school’s talented musical groups including the Praise and Worship Band, Pep Band and the popular Drum Line. This provided prospective students a chance to see the many opportunities they would have to participate in worship during chapel services held on campus every Tuesday and Thursday.
Guests enjoyed a time of lunch and fellowship before leaving for a fun afternoon of indoor go kart racing at Oklahoma City’s Pole Position Speedway.
The day concluded with campus tours, visits with members of the intercollegiate coaching staff, dinner and drawings were more than $50,000 in scholarship money was given away.
