Dr. Dana Owens-DeLong joined the Southwestern Christian teaching staff in 2012, as an undergrad professor for the education program. Since then Dr. DeLong has taken on many different roles across the SCU campus, but she is most excited about her most recent role change as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Before coming to SCU, Dr. DeLong taught at the University of Central Oklahoma and served in the School of Education, where she also attained her Masters in Educational Leadership. Dr. DeLong graduated from Northeastern State University in 1979, with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. After graduating with her Bachelors of Science, Dr. DeLong taught in the public school system for sixteen years. In 2000, Dr. DeLong graduated from Oklahoma State University with her Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. DeLong has presented numerous academic papers on education, leadership, assessment strategies, and other topics. She also has served on many boards and committees during her time as an educator.
In her spare time Dr. DeLong enjoys doing anything outdoors, painting, dancing, pottery, and most of all spending time with her family. Dr. DeLong also teaches an exercise class at her church’s family life center.
