Reggies Wenyika Elected New SCU President


On Monday, May 12, 2014, Dr. Reggies Wenyika was elected the 12th president of Southwestern Christian University.

“It is my honor to announce that Dr. Reggies Wenyika has been elected by the Board of Regents to serve as the next President of Southwestern Christian University,” said Rev. David Burrows, Chairman of the Board of Regents. Burrows added, “Dr. Wenyika has served the institution with distinction as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for over five years, and we are confident he is the best choice to continue the tremendous growth and momentum which SCU has experienced.”

Dr. Wenyika will assume his new role on July 1, 2014, ending a nation-wide search conducted by a twelve-member committee.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Dr. Wenyika graduated from St. Ignatius College and the University of Zimbabwe. He received a Masters of Arts degree (Education Administration - College and Higher Education) and a Doctor of Education degree in (Educational Leadership - Higher Education) from Oral Roberts University. He also earned a Master of Ministry degree (Leadership) from Southwestern Christian University.

Dr. Wenyika began his career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Zimbabwe. He also worked as a Sales Executive for the medical supplies company, National Diagnostics. He served on the pastoral staff of Celebration Church, Zimbabwe before moving to the United States to further his education. In the United States he has worked for Oral Roberts University, Union Public Schools, the City of Tulsa, and served as the Assistant Director of the Veritas Worldview Institute at Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Dr. Wenyika currently serves on a number of non-profit boards as well as being a Vice-President for Faith Community Churches International, a fellowship of Pentecostal churches in over 47 countries. He is a Commissioner for the Chief Academic Officers of the Coalition of Christian Colleges & Universities.

He has been married to Dr. Bongi Wenyika for 17 years and they currently reside in Edmond, Oklahoma with their two children Thembi (16) and Kudzai (12).

Situated in Bethany, Oklahoma, Southwestern Christian University was founded in 1946 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. It is a Christian liberal arts university anchored in the classical Pentecostal faith traditions and serves over 800 students from more than twenty different countries.
