Southwestern Christian University’s Shawna Salkil has been chosen by the Northwest OKC Chamber of Commerce to serve as a member of its board of directors. Salkil, who is the Chief of Staff and Employee Relations, began her one-year term earlier this month.
The 15-member Northwest OKC chamber advocates the area’s business in a joint effort for the purpose of promoting prosperity, happiness and welfare of the commercial interests of the surrounding community. The Chamber traces its origins to 1939 and has a long-standing history working cooperatively with civic and government leaders.
Salkil joined SCU President Reggies Wenyika’s administrative staff last year after serving eight years on staff for the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma..
“Southwestern Christian University excited to have Shawna partner in the Northwest OKC Chamber’s efforts to advance economic opportunities through job creation,” Wenyika said. “We look forward to working with them as SCU expands its reach in the community and beyond.”
Salkil earned her associate’s degree from SCU in 1999 and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Rogers State University in 2010.
