SCU Hires New Sports Information Director
Southwestern Christian University has announced the hiring of Matt Stephens as its new sports information director. Stephens will be responsible for publicity of the school's 18 intercollegiate athletic programs.
Stephens spent the previous three years working for Oklahoma City University as the assistant sports information director in the Stars’ Athletic department. Prior to that, he served as associate director of media relations for the Oklahoma Impact of the United Basketball League (UBL).
The Shawnee native earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Christian in 2010. While at the school, he served as a sports writer for the Talon, the school’s newspaper and as a student assistant in the athletic department’s development office.
Located in Bethany, Okla. Southwestern Christian University was founded in 1946 by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. It is a Christian liberal arts university anchored in the classical Pentecostal faith traditions and serves over 800 students from more than twenty different countries. SCU is affiliated with the NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference.
