Southwestern Christian University student-athletes are teaming with other member schools of the Sooner Athletic Conference in an initiative named “The SAC Gives Back.” The initiative is designed to allow each of the SAC’s 10 schools to partner with a local charity in hopes of creating a positive connection with the community.
Mark Arthur, Vice-President for Athletics, said SCU has elected to hold a non-perishable food item collection from Nov. 10 to Dec. 8. All foods will be donated to an area food bank.
Participants are encouraged to bring all items to the second floor of the SCU Gymnasium. Tubs will be available for drop off items. All 17 of SCU’s intercollegiate sports programs will be in competition to see which one can bring in the most items.
Arthur said a prize will be awarded to the team which collects the most items.
Schools participating in the SAC Gives Back are SCU, Oklahoma City, Science and Arts (Okla.), Wayland Baptist (Texas), Texas Wesleyan, John Brown (Ark.), Oklahoma Baptist, St. Gregory’s (Okla.), Mid-America Christian (Okla.) and Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas).
