BETHANY -- For the first time in its history, Southwestern Christian University has set spring dates for its annual Homecoming and Feast of Ingathering festivities. The University has selected Feb. 27-28, 2015 for its annual celebration which boosts spirit, pride and tradition to all connected with SCU.
New SCU President Dr. Reggies Wenyika said the time was right to experiment with changing the dates of Homecoming from its traditional fall dates to its new spring dates.
“Homecoming and the Feast of Ingathering has always been one of our most favorite and special times here at SCU,” Wenyika said. “I appreciate very much the efforts that our alumni, university, and athletics do in making these festivities so special. We have such a crowded fall in 2014 with activities and an important visit from the accreditation committee that we wanted to give the two events theior own special place on the calendar.”
Every year, SCU hosts Homecoming and Feast of Ingathering to welcome hundreds of alumni, parents and supporters home to the Bethany campus.
“The extra time gained by pushing the dates to the Spring will allow the university plenty of lead time to roll out the red carpet and make this a remarkable experience for everyone,” Wenyika said.
Other traditions will continue in 2015 with class reunions, concerts, student-led activities, special dinners and the traditional basketball game against Sooner Athletic Conference rival St. Gregory’s University. The Feast of Ingathering will again conclude with activities where reunion classes will be recognized and distinguished alumni and award recipients will be acknowledged.
Since its founding in 1946, Southwestern Christian University continues to be a Christ-centered liberal arts institution equipping students for a life of learning, leadership, and service; integrating faith, learning, and living; and empowering graduates to excel and to positively impact their world for Jesus Christ.
