Southwestern Christian University piano majors, Kaleb Siler, Shelby Emmert, Jay-Cee Camp and Hamin Choi will be presenting their senior and junior recitals in the upcoming weeks respectively. The pianists will be performing music selected from the Renaissance to modern day living composers.
All recitals will be held at Collins Chapel. The recitals are free and open to the public.
Choi, a junior majoring in worship arts, will be presenting his recital on April 21,Tuesday at 7 p.m. He grew up in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and is passionate about leading worship. He will present compositions by Handel, Atwood, Schumann, Cuellar and Alexander. He will be joined by Camp for two piano duets.
On April 28, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., Camp will be performing his first solo recital. Camp is a senior from Oklahoma City majoring in church music. He began learning to play the piano at SCU and is excited to present a varied program by Streabbog, Rebikov, Hartsell, Linn and Eklund.
Emmert, an Oklahoma City native, is a senior music performance major and started piano lessons in 2012. She will be performing on May 1,Friday at 7 p.m. Selections for the recital were composed by Kuhnau, Diabelli, Burgmuller, Debussy and Christopher Norton.
Siler, a senior from Newalla, Okla., started playing the piano at 14 and began lessons when he arrived at SCU. He is a music performance major. He will be playing pieces by Graupner, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy. His recital is scheduled for May 2,Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
