SCU Professor Stars In Community Theatre
SCU Professor Dr. Mark Johnson
Southwestern Christian University Professor Dr. Mr. Johnson continues his active role in Community Theater and is scheduled to play one of the lead roles in production of Ragtime. Shows will be at Poteet Theatre at St. Luke's Methodist Church, 222 N.W. 15th Street, in Oklahoma City.
Johnson, who serves as the Department Chair for Creative Arts, will play the role of “Willie Conklin” in the Emmy awarded-performance. Ragtime will run through March 16 with evening shows each Thursday, Friday and Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. Ticket are $25 and can be purchased through the theatre’s website www.poteettheater.com.
Ragtime tells the story of three groups in the in the early 20th century United States: African-Americans, upper-class suburbanites, and immigrants.
Johnson has previously appeared as a member of the summer cast of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park's productions of Ring Round the Moon (Romainville), and was also cast in King Lear.
