SCU to Join Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference

POINT LOOKOUT, MO.--Pending membership approval from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) later this spring, Southwestern Christian University will join the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference in fall 2010, becoming the league's ninth member institution. 

Southwestern Christian, which is located in the Bethany, Okla., is currently a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association.  SCU offers 13 total sports and plans to participate in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's track and field when it joins the MCAC this fall.

"Southwestern Christian University will be a great fit for us and we are really looking forward to what they will add to the conference," said MCAC Commissioner Al Waller.

"We are pleased to be joining the MCAC pending approval of our NAIA membership," said Southwestern Christian Athletic Director Mark Arthur.  "We have already received a wonderful reception from the conference's presidents and administrators and look forward to building partnerships on and off the field."

Established in 1994, the MCAC consists of eight member institutions located in four different states, including Bellevue University (Omaha, Neb.), Central Christian College (McPherson, Kan.), College of the Saint Mary (Omaha, Neb.), College of the Ozarks (Point Lookout, Mo.), Haskell Indian Nations University (Lawrence, Kan.), Oklahoma Wesleyan University (Bartlesville, Okla.), Peru State College (Peru, Neb.) and York College (York, Neb.).
