Members of the Southwestern Christian University Student Government Association presented the organization’s November Eagle-of-the-Month to student Michael Thomas at Chapel Services Tuesday.
Thomas, a senior from Aberdeen, Scotland, was chosen from seven nominees who best represent the university’s motto of Scholarship, Spirit and Service. The SGA makes the final selection of the nominees presented.
In the ceremony, Thomas was praised for his outstanding service in the Center for Student Success and the countless hours that he has spent as a tutor, many of it volunteering his time off-the-clock.
Center for Student Success Director, Brittanie Wyatt, said it was not un-common for Michael to offer transportation for students who may live off campus to the center for tutoring. Wyatt said, “Anyone who has met Michael knows he can talk big about a lot of things; however, it is the quiet things he does for others behind the scenes, without people knowing, that make him an excellent choice for Eagle of the Month.”
Michael Thomas assists the SCU soccer team as a coach, and he has provided video commentary for many of the games that have been web streamed. As Eagle of the Month, Thomas was awarded a gift card, a certificate and a much-coveted reserved parking spot for the following month. Congratulations Michael!
