Southwestern Christian University will be hosting an informational meeting to start a Toastmasters Club. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. in Roberson 108. It is a drop-in event, and all students, staff and faculty are invited to attend, according to Dr. Rebecca Webster, Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department and event coordinator.
“As servant leaders, we're often asked to speak in public and sometimes with little or no advance notice,” Webster said. “Toastmasters is a great way to learn to organize your thoughts and deliver a speech smoothly and in a meaningful way.”
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership improvement. Webster said her hope is that members will learn methods of delivering better presentations, organizing teams, effectively presenting ideas, listening, and developing more efficient ways to conduct meetings.
