Jeremy Davis - Alumnus Spotlight

IMG-6330.JPGSince graduating from SCU in the spring of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Leadership, Alumnus Jeremy Davis has been on a rather exciting adventure. Accepted to the Graduate College of the University of Oklahoma, Jeremy brought the foundations laid at SCU to Oklahoma’s flagship research institution and never slowed down. A distinguished scholar in the Museum Studies program, Jeremy hopes that following graduation next spring that he will be able to continue into a PhD program in either History or Organizational Leadership to place a capstone on an education began right here at SCU.

Over the past two years, Jeremy has been blessed to visit multiple historic sites and museums in the United States and Europe, greatly benefiting his studies as a museum professional including UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Scotland and Portugal. On several visits to Scotland, he visited the 15th-Century Rosslyn Chapel as well as a trio of Scotland’s national museums including the National Museum of Flight, the National Museum, and the National War Museum at Edinburgh Castle. While on a pair of visits to Portugal, Jeremy took in the vistas from the National Palace of Pena and Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra and in the nation’s capital of Lisbon, one of the largest aquariums in the world at the Oceanário de Lisboa.

In the area of service, Jeremy has continued to rise in his duties with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, being named earlier this year to the National Staff as Branch Assistant – Curator in the Public Affairs Directorate’s History Division. In his work with the Auxiliary, Jeremy will assist the Coast Guard Museum in various curatorial projects both onsite in New London, CT and via the web as well as assisting the National Staff in documenting the history of the Auxiliary.

Back at OU, Jeremy has been heavily involved in the Graduate Student Life Advisory Council, the Graduate Student Senate and was recently tapped to begin development of the university’s first Honors Society for Museum Studies. This month, he will be inducted into the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity in recognition of his academic accomplishments.

Jeremy is a proud single father of two daughters, Savanna and Madison (ages 6 & 4), and serves as a member of the SCU Alumni Association Board.
