SCU Announces New Vice Presidents

Southwestern Christian University announces the addition of two new Vice Presidents to lead the Department of Student Engagement and Success.  The department, formerly known as the Department of Student Services, partners with students for holistic growth through Christ-centered living.

"Redesigning the traditional Student Life department into a very deliberate enhancement of the SCU learning experience is paramount in our students becoming world changers.", said Dr. Tom Murray, President at Southwestern Christian University.  "I believe the domains that will function under the Student Engagement and Success division will build a vibrant and engaging campus community.  Fostering a safe, caring, and respectful community through opportunities directed by the collaborative efforts of Rev. Taylor Drake and Dr. Shelley Groves will bolster growth in the academic, social, and spiritual dimensions of our student body."  Efforts to restructure and bring a cohesion to various segments of the campus will begin this semester and be implemented in Fall 2022.  President Murray went on to express that he is extremely happy to have Rev. Drake and Dr. Groves in these positions of leadership at Southwestern.

Vice President of Student Engagement and Success - Rev. Taylor Drake

Rev. Drake is no stranger to the Southwestern campus.  Drake graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies in 2013.  He then went on to complete a master's degree in Theology (emphasis Research) in 2014.  "I am thrilled to be a part of the SCU family once again," said Taylor Drake, Vice President of Student Engagement and Success.  "I look forward to helping advance the University as we prepare our students for success in their chosen fields as well as in their everyday lives."

Vice President of Integrity & Strategic Projects - Dr. Shelley Groves

Dr. Shelley Groves has also been part of the SCU family in a variety of roles and is no stranger to the SCU community.  She came to SCU as an adjunct professor in 2004 and became a fulltime faculty member in 2005.  Groves developed the English Department and assisted in the development of the teacher education programs.  She has taught a range of classes and served in academic administration roles throughout her time at Soutwestern.  "It is such an honor to serve SCU in this new capacity," said Dr. Groves.  "I'm very grateful that I can be a part of the continued effort to make Southwestern the best that we can to serve students and honor God.  This is a very special place, and I am excited to see all that God can do in and through our community."
