SCU Wins NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer Title

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Southwestern Christian University defeated Emmanuel (Ga.) 1-0 in overtime and secured its first ever NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer championship Saturday at Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex.

After the Eagles and Lions played a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, SCU broke through in 98th minute when Chad Dennis connected with Walton Domingos who netted the game winner, his fifth goal of the tournament.

Dennis, a senior midfielder from Liverpool, England, was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Lucas LoureiroDanny Roberts and Rob Tomlin joined Dennis on the all-tournament team. 

The Eagles (15-5-5) punched their ticket to the national championship match by winning Pool C and defeating in-state rival Oklahoma Baptist 5-3 in the semifinals. in pool play SCU topped Bethesda (Calif.) 3-0 and Bluefield (Va.) 2-0.

SCU allowed just three goals in four games in national tournament play. The Eagles outscored their opponents by a combined 11-3.
