Full-Time Staff - Financial Aid Director

FINANCIAL AID DIRECTOR

 

Southwestern Christian University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Financial Aid. In this position, the Director serves as the primary professional responsible for all student financial aid awards at the University.

 

Responsibilities: The Director provides leadership and oversight of the Office of Financial Aid and all areas of financial aid administration and compliance by working collaboratively to achieve departmental and institutional goals. In addition to the administration of all funds used in the support of all students, the Director will be responsible for overseeing financial aid strategies that are consistent with the student success objectives of the University within the framework of federal and state guidelines. He/she will also be involved with establishing strategies to set an institutional wide standard for attracting newly enrolled students and retention issues that affect students at the University.

 

The Director will plan, establish, organize and manage a service-oriented financial aid team that is committed to creating an excellent student experience. The Director will evaluate operations leading to continuous improvement, supervision, and evaluation of the financial aid staff. 

 

The preferred Director candidate should have at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role in a student-centered, service-oriented financial aid office to include 3 years at a Director level. The candidate should also have demonstrated successful experience in managing a student financial aid department, and in developing, evaluating, and improving financial aid awarding from a data-driven perspective. Substantial knowledge of and experience with administering student work-study programs is highly preferred. Bachelor's degree required. Preference will be given to those candidates with a Master's degree and proven technical skills in data management, data processing concepts, and computerized systems related to student financial aid. Knowledge of best practices in the efficient use of resources is expected.

 

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database programs.
  • Previous administrative and customer service experience with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a committed Christian who is supportive of the educational mission of the University that fosters the integration of faith, learning and living

 

Compensation:  Based on experience.
